Jeb Patton Trio and Tupac Mantilla’s Points of View, with Melissa Aldana and Jimmy Heath
Two top trios, two different worlds, plus one rising star saxophonist.
These two dynamic trios may take very different approaches, but there’s no denying that they’ll deliver an evening of excitement. Jeb Patton’s group is the quintessential swinging jazz trio of piano, bass, and drums. Touring extensively and working regularly with legendary jazz artists such as the Heath Brothers, Jeb has honed his formidable piano technique and ear for arranging. With longtime trio member David Wong on bass and the incredibly versatile Eric Harland on drums, this trio is burning. Tupac Mantilla, one of the world’s most creative percussionists, is joined by powerhouse Cuban bassist Yunior Terry and Chilean guitarist Camila Meza, and there’s no telling what brilliant new direction of world jazz they’ll pursue. Thelonious Monk Saxophone Competition winner Melissa Aldana, who also hails from Chile, will join both trios and provide an exciting bridge between the familiar and the unexpected.
